Connecting Communities in the 5th District
Bregetta is a caring, dedicated, and hard-working mother of two daughters. Ta-Brea, 20 years old a junior at Norfolk State University, and MaKaela, 12 years old 6th grader at Serviam Girls Academy. She is lovingly supported by her mother, Elder Mercedes Fields.
Bregetta received her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Norfolk State University in 1996 and a Master of Science in Health Service Administration from Strayer University 2019.
She began her career in the health care industry in 1996 after graduation. Working, first, for several different health care companies, Bregetta eventually joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware (Currently Highmark of Delaware) where she has been an active and engaged healthcare professional for 20 years.
Bregetta is also a highly respected instructor for the Medical Billing and Claims Examining Program, at Dawn Training Centre, Inc, and the Harris School of Business, where she has taught, collectively, for 15 years.
Bregetta and her family are multi-generational residents of West Center City. As a child, she participated in the many programs offered at the West Center Community Center - now, the William “Hicks” Anderson Community Center. These programs helped her develop the life skills that have guided her through her successful life and career. Her mother, Mercedes Fields, and Aunt Frauline Trotter, also have had a huge impact on her development as a community leader.
As a child, she was a regular at the many community meetings, neighborhood socials and other community building events that were directed and led by her Mother and Aunt. They taught her how community building, community engagement and creating friendships strengthens a community.
To this day, Bregetta remains committed to family, friends and to serving her community.
